The world of work has completely changed since the pandemic, with more people working remotely than ever before. However, there are still groups of employees who have to go into the office, and it’s these employees we should be thinking about when it comes to comfort. People want to feel satisfied in their jobs, but the reason that some businesses have a high turnover is because they feel less than comfortable or satisfied with the job and the space in which they are working. You need to have as much satisfaction at work as possible, but what can do that for somebody?
From hiring in the right commercial air conditioning installation company to make sure that your HVACs are working correctly, to making sure that your business is laid out in a way that is easy for people to use without wastage, there is a lot to think about when it comes to your employees and their satisfaction. So with that in mind, we put together a list of ways that you can make your employees much more comfortable at work so that they may one day want to come back and work in an office.
- You can make it feel more like home. If you have to bring people back into an office, or you’re looking to offer a hybrid working environment where people can come into the office a couple of days a week, you need to make it feel like it’s somewhere they want to be. That means that you need to replicate that home environment. And no, we’re not suggesting you put in a TV or a sofa. What we are suggesting, though, is to treat people like they are at home. Let them feel comfortable, brighten up the space and don’t look over their shoulder at what they’re doing at work. You do not have to have an office that looks like it’s strictly business with nobody speaking to one another. People spend more time at work than they do at home, so make sure that they are comfortable while they do.
- Encourage communication. There was once a Vibe that the workplace is for work only and not for personal talk. But how do you expect people to be social if you don’t allow them to have a conversation? People are actually much happier to get their work done if they feel like they are able to be open with one another and communicate freely. In the office, employees can become easily frustrated when they feel that their opinions and their concerns are not something that matters. Creating a safe space where they can voice things that could be improved is important. If employees come to a manager in confidence about an issue, you should make sure that that conversation also remains private. Trust is a big deal and communication is even bigger.
- Let people be actually comfortable. Do you really need people trussing up in suits and ties for their work day? Do you remember how it felt to be in school uniform every single day? Most people don’t want to sit around in business suits, especially if they don’t have to have a client facing a meeting. Allow people to wear what they want because as long as the work is getting done it really shouldn’t matter.
