Ubisoft To Make The Next Star Wars Game

With EA’s exclusivity deal now confirmed to be coming to an end in 2023, Ubisoft will be the first to develop a Star Wars game that will be released after the deal ends.

In an emailed statement, EA said: “We’re proud of our long-standing collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, which will continue for years to come.” Lucasfilm said on Wednesday morning that it had “a number of projects underway” with EA.

So EA appears to be far from done with the Star Wars franchise, it doesn’t seem like EA will have to stop making Star Wars games after 2023, but our excitement will of course have to wait because depending on how many of these projects get to see the light.

EA’s Star Wars Games (So Far)

  • Star Wars Battlefront
  • Star Wars Battlefront II
  • Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
  • Star Wars Squadrons

What we know so far about the Ubisoft Star Wars Game: It will be set in an open world environment and it will be developed by Massive Entertainment’s team in Sweden, who made Tom Clancy’s The Division and is currently working on an“Avatar” game.

Once this news was announced, there was a change in the two video game companies’ stock, Ubisoft climbed more than 7%, and EA fell as 3.2%.
